Ross Exo Adams

Assistant Professor of Architectural Studies

Ross Exo Adams is an architect, urban theorist, and historian whose work investigates the intersections of architecture and urbanism with geography, political theory, environmental studies, and histories of power. His research has been supported by fellowships and grants from the Royal Institute of British Architects, London Consortium, MacDowell Colony, and Iowa State University, where he served as assistant professor of architecture and urban theory. Adams has taught at the Bartlett School of Architecture at University College London, Architectural Association, Berlage Institute in Rotterdam, and University of Brighton. He is the author of Circulation and Urbanization (2018), an investigation into the history of the urban; book chapters in Resilience and the Anthropocene: Re-Designing Governance, Ethics, Critique in a Complex World (forthcoming); Architectures, Natures, Data: Politics of Environments (forthcoming); Interior Futures (forthcoming); Landscape and Agency; and Infrastructure Space, among others; and articles and reviews in publications such as Architectural Histories, Architecture and Culture, e-flux Architecture, Radical Philosophy, and Thresholds. He is also the reviews editor for the Journal of Architecture. As an architect and urban designer, Ross has practiced with, among others, MVRDV, Netherlands; Productora, Mexico; Foster and Partners and Arup Urban Design, United Kingdom.
