Hyperreal Territories
If we can feel a hyperreal environment, where and when can we see it? Is it even visible at all?
I began to think about the most basic images that confront us on a daily basis. Can these images be considered signs? I hope to capture and isolate some of the frantic iteration that abounds on the Internet and trace it through the various stages that create hyper reality. I use Baudrilliard’s idea of a map to provide structure for various arguments, investigations, and visual metaphors. The map is a modified version of Carte du Tendre, a 17th-century image produced by various hands that attempts to diagram another impossible territory — that of Love.
